  • Please remember to wear your mask when you enter the building. If you do not have a mask or forgot yours, masks will be available at the welcome center. Ages 3 and up will be required to wear a mask while you are in the building.
  • As you approach the church, the doors will be propped open and our greeters will be there to welcome you, do a temperature check (if your temperature is 100.4 degrees F,  get you a mask if needed, and direct you toward the sanctuary. For the safety of all involved….no hugs or handshakes. Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the lobby. And we know how much you want to gather and chat, but we will not be able to congregate in the church lobby before or after service.
  • When it is communion Sunday, as you enter the sanctuary, you will be handed a communion kit. The kit contains an all in one communion cup and a napkin. At the end of the service, we will share in the Lord’s Supper, when you are finished, you can put your cup and napkin into the Ziploc bag and dispose of it on your way out.
  • Once in your seat, you can go to our website (www.phumc.net) to submit your prayer requests or to give online. Offering boxes are also available in the lobby so you can leave your offering on your way in or out.
  • Ushers will be spread out in the sanctuary to help you find a seat. Families and household units can sit together. In the sanctuary we need to maintain six feet distance between families- every other row will be blocked off to allow for healthy physical distancing. You will find that all of the Bibles, hymnals, pens, and cards have been removed from the backs of the pews.
  •  As we worship together, remember to keep your masks on. Singing and loud speaking have been connected to the spread of the virus for those without masks.
  •         As we conclude our service, an usher will dismiss each section. Use the closest aisle and door to exit. Don’t          forget to drop off your offering, throw away your communion kit if needed, and pick up a bulletin from a            greeter as you leave.
  •         If you are a first-time guest, please stop by the Welcome Center to fill out a Connect Card, and receive a                gift.   We would love to reach out to you.

Our sanctuary seats 1700, there will be plenty of room for us to physical distance.

If you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick, please stay safer-at-home. If you are vulnerable to COVID-19 or especially anxious about becoming ill, please stay safer-at-home. Lastly, if you are unwilling to follow our protocols, please stay safer-at-home. We understand and so does the Lord! We will continue to broadcast the services every Sunday at www.phumc.net and on the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church Facebook page Sunday's at 9:30 a.m.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Click on the link below to see a chart that shows the various phases of reopening. This is a living, moving document. I know you are wondering just how soon we will be moving from one stage to the next. We are currently in Phase 1b as of May 27, 2020.

On June 1, Phase 2a begins. Camp CUBBER will begin and most of our staff will return to the office. The public will not be allowed on campus and members must make an appointment with staff to be on campus. Temperatures of children and staff will be checked upon arrival. Masks will be worn by teachers and by staff when they leave their offices. Outside doors will remain locked and the only entry will be through the Main Entry to the office. At pickup time for the camp children, camp staff will man the doors and check temperatures of parents before they are permitted to go to their child’s room. During the day doors will be monitored and no one will be admitted without a mask and temperature check.

You will note that all special events, large group gatherings, and worship in the sanctuary will not be held on campus until we are in Phase 3b.

Currently, these are our expectations once we enter Phase 3a. Of course, these may change as we learn more and receive more direction from the CDC and the Florida Conference.

  • Outside doors will be propped open.
  • Masks must be worn. (Please bring your own. We will have some available, if you forget.)
  • Bring your sanitizer and wash your hands often. (We will have sanitizer available as well.)
  • Everyone must maintain physical distancing (6’ apart)
  • Offerings will be placed in boxes located in the lobby. No collection during the services.
  • Ushers will guide worshippers to their seats. (Every other row will be blocked off and families will be seated six feet from other worshippers.)
  • We will have only virtual choir for the foreseeable future. (One of the primary risk factors for churches is that the virus spreads farther when people are singing.). You can sing along with our praise teams through your masks, or lift your hands in praise, clap your hands, or dance in place.
  • No more than two persons in a restroom at the same time. Restrooms will be monitored and cleaned frequently.
  • Children will worship with their parents in the sanctuary. Cry room will be closed.
  • Dismissal from worship will be guided by the ushers to prevent congestion and congregating.
  • No coffee and donuts.
  • On communion Sunday you will be given the elements as you enter.
  • You may pick up a bulletin as you leave the building.

PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK, OR HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO THE VIRUS. Please continue to join us for online worship until it is safe for you to return.

This is just to give you an idea of where we are and what we are thinking. I know it sounds very restrictive, but we want to be sure that we are protecting our worshippers.  At 25% occupancy, our sanctuary will seat 425 people while maintaining the prescribed restrictions for physical distancing. We will begin with one worship service and when it appears we are nearing our capacity, we will add another. We know many of you will choose to remain at home until there is a vaccine or proven cure. We understand that and are grateful that you are able to join us for our online services. We all look forward to the day when we all feel safe and all are able to return.
